Description

Nos. 29 and 31 on Tamworth Street are two houses that have been converted into shops, dating from around 1800. They are built of brick and feature a tiled roof with a coped gable and kneelers. The buildings are designed in a Georgian style and have a double-depth plan, standing three storeys tall with a three-window range.

The top of the façade is adorned with a richly moulded cornice that includes modillions and egg-and-dart moulding. To the right of the centre, there is a round-headed entrance with a doorcase that has panelled pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice, topped by a fanlight with decorative glazing bars above a small-paned glazed door. To the right, there is a segmental-headed entrance with a similar door, and another similar entrance is located at the left end. The segmental-headed windows feature sills; the ground floor windows have small-paned fixed glazing, while the first floor includes a window on the left with a 4/8-pane sash, one above the entrance with a small-paned cross-casement, and a window on the right end with small-paned fixed glazing. The second floor has one three-light and two two-light small-paned casements.

At the rear, the buildings have three gables. Inside, there is an open-well stick-baluster staircase located at the right end.
