Description
These two houses, at numbers 11, 11A, and 13 Tamworth Street, were likely built in the early 18th century. They are now used as shops and offices. The buildings are constructed of stucco, and may originally have been timber-framed, with brick on the rear elevation. They have a double-span tile roof and a brick stack running across the centre.
The buildings have a double-depth plan and are three storeys high, with a two-window front. There is a decorative cornice at the top. The front has been altered with 19th and 20th-century shop fronts. The first floor has architraved windows with 12-pane sashes. The window on the right has a decorative cornice. The second floor has windows with three-light casements, with the one on the left featuring an iron opening casement. The right return side shows a timber-framed gable on the rear. A two-storey gabled wing extends from the rear.
Inside, the ground floor has chamfered beams. The left half of the first floor has two stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. There are no visible signs of original timber-framing.
