Description
This property comprises two houses, now a shop and flat, dating from around 1760. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings, topped with a tile roof featuring a coped gable and a brick stack along the ridge. The building follows a double-depth plan and is in a Georgian style. It is three storeys high and has a two-window front. A brick platt band sits above the first floor, featuring downward projections. There is a top cornice. The shop fronts are from the 19th century; the left one has a four-panel door and recessed shop entrance, featuring a bracketed cornice and rich cast iron cresting. The right shop front has panelled pilasters, a bracketed cornice with ball finials, and a four-panel door at the right end. The first-floor windows have rusticated wedge lintels with keys, with a 4:12:4-pane tripartite sash to the left and a sixteen-pane horned sash to the right. The second floor has four windows: a 2:6:2-pane tripartite casement to the left, and a three-light casement with a leaded opening casement to the right, with a light at the end. The rear of the building includes two gables. Interior features include a large fireplace with a corbelled lintel to the rear left. This building has group value.
