Description
12 and 14 Conduit Street is a house that has been converted into shops, dating from the early to mid 18th century. The building is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features a hipped tile roof with a brick stack at the rear. It is designed in the Georgian style and stands three storeys tall with a symmetrical five-window arrangement and a top cornice. The shop fronts were added in the 20th century. The upper floor windows have moulded sills and wedge lintels with keys, while the central windows are adorned with eared architraves and triple keys. The first-floor windows originally had 6/9-pane horned sashes, but the current ones are 18-pane horned sashes, and the second floor has 4-pane horned sashes, all to the right being of 20th-century origin. Inside, there is a central staircase with turned balusters above the ground floor.
