Description
Nos. 2, 3, and 4 Dam Street are three houses and offices built around 1800. They are constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and feature a tile roof in the Georgian style. The buildings rise three storeys and present a symmetrical seven-window facade, with the centre section breaking forward under a pediment. There is a top cornice and blocking course. The late 19th-century shop fronts have bracketed cornices and canvas canopies, with windows that include enriched spandrels and friezes. No. 2 has an entrance on the left with a radial-bar fanlight above a six-panel door. No. 3 features a recessed central entrance with a glazed door, while No. 4 has a recessed entrance on the right with a decorative overlight above a panelled door. At the rear, there are two gables under hipped roofs, each with sashed windows. Inside, the ground floor rooms have cornices, and Nos. 2 and 4 include open well stairs with stick balusters.
