Description
Lyddan House is a house dating from the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed of brick with a stucco facade and features a tile roof with brick end stacks and a coped gable. The building has a double-depth, central staircase plan and stands two storeys high with a symmetrical five-window range. A top cornice runs along the building. The entrance is recessed and features a doorcase with pilasters and tall brackets supporting the cornice. Inside, the entrance has panelled reveals and an overlight above the half-glazed door, with handrails that have enriched brackets leading up to the steps. The segmental-headed windows contain 6-pane casements with old glass, and there are three hipped dormers with small-paned casements. A rainwater head is present, with a later downspout. The rear of the house has three gables. Inside, the ground floor features heavy beams, and there is an open well staircase with a closed string, splat balusters, square newels, and a moulded handrail. Some two-panel doors are also present.
