Description

This house, now used as shops and offices, was built around 1830. It is located on Tamworth Street in Lichfield. The building is constructed of brick, with some areas painted, and has ashlar stone detailing. The roof is tiled, with brick chimney stacks at the ends. It follows a double-depth plan and is in a Georgian style. The building is three storeys high, and has a symmetrical design with three windows on each floor, the central bay projecting forward. A decorative cornice runs along the top. The main entrance has a door surround with a detailed cornice, and an overlight with decorative glazing bars to a 20th-century door. Two shop fronts from the early 20th century are present, with recessed entrances. The shop front on the left has a side entrance with an overlight and a two-light window pane; the shop front on the right has later 20th-century alterations. The upper windows have sills. The windows on the first floor have decorative friezes and cornices above the 12-pane sashes, while the windows on the second floor have rubbed brick arches above the 6-pane sashes. A rear wing features a large brick chimney stack.
