Description
Lombard Court is a house, now serving as County Council offices, dating from around 1810. The building is constructed of brick with ashlar stone details and has a tile roof with prominent end stacks. It is three storeys high and has an irregular facade of three windows. The design follows a Georgian style and features a double-depth plan.
The building has an ashlar stone base, a flush sill band at ground floor level, a further sill band to the first floor, and a projecting timber cornice with decorative modillions. The central entrance is round-headed, with a doorcase featuring panelled pilasters, an entablature, and a pediment. Above the six-fielded-panel door is a fanlight with decorative glazing bars and a fluted frieze. A lower, elliptical-headed entrance is located on the left side, also with a six-fielded-panel door. The windows are set within rubbed brick flat arches, with twelve panes to the sashes on the ground floor. The second-floor windows have sills and nine-pane sashes. The rear of the building incorporates a large addition from the late 20th century.
