Manor Farmhouse And Attached Garden Wall

Manor Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of red brick with a slate roof, featuring mid-19th century integral end stacks with moulded capping. The two-storey, three-window front has a floor band and a dentilled eaves cornice. The first floor has late 19th century casements set within segmental-headed openings. The ground floor features four-paned sash windows with chamfered stone lintels. A central entrance has a six-panel door, the top panels now glazed, sheltered by a bracketed flat hood. A plinth incorporates a three-light chamfered stone mullion window illuminating the cellar to the right of the entrance; a similar window is infilled to the left. A parallel gabled range extends to the rear on the right side. This range has an infilled segmental-headed window on the first floor and a full-height gable that appears truncated and continued as a lower mid-to-late 19th century range, running parallel to the main range. A single-storey mid-19th century kitchen range projects at right angles from the full-height gable, featuring prominent integral end stacks. Attached garden walls are located at the back corners of the main range, the right one terminating in a small timber-framed outbuilding. The garden walls are likely late 18th century, built of red brick with stone coping; the left wall has a round-arched recess and a segmental-headed doorway, linking the house with a barn to the southwest. The interior of the house has not been inspected, but is likely to be of interest. The property is included on the list for group value.
