Description
Felton Grange is a house located in West Felton, dating from the mid-18th century and significantly extended in the mid-19th century, with later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of red brick and features slate roofs. It stands three storeys high, with two storeys in the flanking wings. The main block has a symmetrical facade with one bay on each side of a slightly projecting gabled break, connected by recessed one-bay links to two-bay gabled wings. The windows are glazing bar sashes, with 15 panes in the outer bays of the main block's first floor, while the ground floor has late 19th-century canted bay windows, along with a contemporary French window in the center. The main range includes integral end stacks with dentilled capping and a small stack at the center gable. The flanking wings have external stacks, also with dentilled capping, at the front gables and a similar stack at the rear of the right wing. There is a porch with a flat roof, featuring two bays with round-headed arches and half-glazed doors, situated at the angle between the main range and the right wing. The interior was not accessible during the resurvey in June 1986, but it is likely to be of interest.
