Description
Threadneedle Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage located on Threadneedle Street in West Felton. It is believed to date from the mid-17th century, with the eaves raised in the late 18th or early 19th century, along with later additions and alterations. The cottage features a timber frame with painted brick infill and a graded slate roof, arranged in a 2-cell plan over two storeys. The framing consists of irregular square panels, with four panels extending from the cill to the original wall-plate. The collar and tie beam end trusses have curved principals with truncated apexes.
On the exterior, there are late 20th-century latticed casements, one on either side of a roughly central entrance, with first-floor windows positioned directly below the eaves. The entrance features a late 20th-century diagonally boarded door beneath a 19th-century gabled hood. There is a rebuilt external end stack on the left side. Inside, there is a timber-framed cross wall with square panels and a collar and tie beam truss immediately to the left of the entrance. The cottage was formerly known as Court Cottages. A late 20th-century painted brick lean-to on the right gable end is not considered of special architectural interest.
