Description

The Priory is a house dating from the early 18th century, with later alterations and additions. It is constructed of red brick with a pantiled roof. The house is two storeys and an attic, with a symmetrical facade featuring two window bays. The windows are 3-light mullion and transom casements, with square-leaded panes; one window opening has been blocked. A lobby entrance leads to a two-storey mid-19th century Gothic porch featuring a pointed 2-centre arched doorway with a boarded and battened door. The porch facade is decorated with pictorial tiles set into sunk brick panels, and it has a crenellated parapet. Single-storey additions with crenellated parapets flank the porch. A mid-20th century arched doorway is located at the extreme left of the facade. A brick modillion eaves cornice runs along the roofline, and there are parapet gable ends. Internal and gable end stacks are present. At the rear, three original flat-roofed dormer windows and a cross window, all with square-leaded panes, remain. A two-storey 19th-century range adjoins the right side, featuring a bay of blank panels; a single-storey 19th-century range is located to the left, with four blank panels.
