Description

These three cottages, located at 6, 8, and 10 Priory Road, incorporate a 17th-century core, with a late 18th-century addition to the left-hand end (number 10), and 19th-century work at the rear. The timber-frame core has been largely rebuilt in red brick, with a pantiled roof. The cottages are two storeys and have an attic. The original layout was three cells. They have four windows, which are mainly 18th- and 19th-century 3-light casements with a single horizontal glazing bar to each light, set within flat brick arches. Number 6 has a 6-panel raised and fielded door, number 8 has an oak plank door, and number 10 has a mid-20th-century door. A brick dentil eaves cornice runs along the top. There are two internal stacks. Inside numbers 6 and 8, some exposed 17th-century joists and framing are visible, along with original lintels with barred stop chamfers above the fireplaces.
