Description
The United Reformed Church, dated 1778 on the keystone over the central ground floor window, is a chapel located in Wrentham. It is constructed of red brick and features a rendered flat parapet around three sides, along with a mansard hipped roof covered in glazed black pantiles. The building is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-bay entrance facade. This facade includes semi-circular headed two-light and three-light square-leaded casement windows with Y tracery, as well as raised stone springers and keys. There are two doorways, each fitted with later four-panel raised and fielded doors, set within semi-circular arched recesses and surrounded by panelled surrounds that appear to be the original doors. The two-bay returns also have similar windows. Inside, there is a gallery on three sides, supported by slender wooden columns and two large columns at the corners, which are painted to resemble marble. The stairs to the gallery have been removed. The interior features box pews with raised and fielded panels and panelled entrance lobbies. Facing the gallery is a pulpit with inscriptions related to the founding of the chapel in the 17th century.
