Description
Quiggins Restaurant is a house with a former shop, now functioning as a restaurant. It dates from the 18th century, with a mid-19th century shop front facing High Street. The building is constructed of colourwashed brick and covered with glazed black pantiles. It has two storeys and an attic. The house faces Mill Lane and features three windows with large-paned mullion and transom casements, mainly from the 20th century, set under segmental arches. The original doorway has been replaced by a window. There is a brick dentil eaves cornice and a heavy central internal stack. The High Street wing is a single storey with an attic, featuring two catslide dormers. The shopfront is canted and has a double-bay design with a panelled plinth; it includes 9-pane windows framed by narrow pilasters, a continuous fascia and cornice, and mid-20th century glazed double doors with a rectangular fanlight. The building is included for its group value.
