PONTESBURY C.P. PLEALEY Barn approximately 30m east of Spencer Lodge

GV II

Barn, now cowshed. Probably early C17 with later additions and alterations. Timber framed, mainly clad in corrugated iron, plain tile roof. 2 levels; east side has 3 eaves hatches, 2 boarded doors to left and one C20 ventilated opening to left of centre. Interior: framing exposed, 3 square panels from cill to wall-plate, long straight tension braces and jowled wall posts; inserted full-length loft; single-purlin roof in 3 wide bays with raking struts from tie beams supporting principal rafters. Later farmbuildings adjoining are not included.
