Description
This barn, located 20 meters west of Lodge Farmhouse, dates back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and mid-20th centuries. It features five bays, two aisles, and one midstrey. The structure is timber-framed and weatherboarded, with the aisle walls partially rebuilt in the 19th century using flint rubble and red brick quoins. The roof is thatched with clasped purlins and hipped at the north end. In the 20th century, the barn was truncated, and a new gable wall was constructed at the south end. The midstrey includes a pair of boarded wagon doors beneath an eyebrow-thatched roof. Inside, there are jowled arcade posts with arch-bracing to the tie-beam and arcades, as well as rising braces from the aisle tie-beam to the heads of the arcade posts. Additionally, some casements and a partition were inserted at the north end in the 20th century.
