Description
This barn, located approximately 30 meters southwest of Lodge Farmhouse, has origins dating back to the 16th century, with an extension and roof added in the 18th century. It features a timber frame and is weatherboarded, with a roof clad in corrugated asbestos and a brick plinth. There are gabled midstreys on the northeast and southwest sides. The barn consists of six original bays that include halved wall bracing and a halved and bridled top plate scarf. Originally, it had arched braces supporting the tie beams, but these have been replaced with hanging knees. The roof has been raised to match the height of the five southern 18th-century bays and is constructed with side purlins and a ridgeboard.
