Description

Yew Tree Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 16th century, with later additions and alterations. It features a timber frame set on a rendered stone plinth with plastered infill and has a corrugated iron roof that has replaced the original thatch. The cottage is one storey with an attic and consists of three framed bays. The framing includes three square panels from the cill to the wall-plate and short straight tension braces. The windows are arranged irregularly, with one late 19th-century casement window on either side of a slightly left-of-centre entrance, which has a rectangular overlight above it. There are gabled eaves dormers above the entrance, and a 20th-century casement window to the right. A slightly later timber-framed lean-to is attached to the left-hand gable end.
