Description

The Oaklands is a house, likely dating to the late 18th century, with a painted date of 1789 on the entrance porch. It has undergone later additions and alterations. The house is constructed primarily of uncoursed limestone rubble, with a painted brick facade, and is roofed with double-span slate. The building is two storeys with an attic, the front being lit by two inserted flat-roofed dormers. It features a dentilled eaves cornice and a three-window front, with glazing bar sashes, all having slightly cambered heads. A porch is situated between the second and third bays from the left, featuring a plain moulded entablature and flanking Tuscan columns. There is a ridge stack to the left and an integral end stack to the right. A straight joint reveals a later addition to the rear, which has two central ridge stacks.
