Description

Pontesford House Lodge is a lodge building, likely constructed around 1830, with later additions and alterations. It is made of uncoursed limestone rubble and features a slate hipped roof. The lodge has a roughly rectangular plan and is designed in a Picturesque style. It is one storey high with an attic, which is illuminated by prominent slate-hung gabled dormers on all four sides. The wide eaves slope down to create a verandah, supported by rustic wooden posts at the front and right sides. The front features a door and a Tudor Gothic triple-light window, both under segmental arches, along with two similar windows to the right and an additional window set back at the far end. A central red brick chimney stack with moulded capping and two toothed bands beneath completes the structure. This lodge served as the former entrance to Pontesford House, which was built around the same time in a Tudor Gothic style but is not included in this listing.
