Description

The gate piers and railings located immediately to the northeast of Pontesford House were likely built around 1830. They are made of limestone ashlar and wrought iron. The gate piers, which have moulded pyramidal caps, flank the drive leading to Pontesford House (which is not included in this listing). To the right, there is a low ashlar wall topped with wrought-iron railings that extend along the road for approximately 60 meters. The railings feature spear-shaped finials with scrolled ends and urn-capped standards. These standards lead to a pair of rustic gate piers that support an ornate wrought-iron gate. This structure is included for its group value.
