Description

PREES C.P. SANDFORD SJ 53 SE 7/97 Dovecote approx. - 80m north of Sandford Hall GV II Dovecote. Probably late C19. Cement rendering in imitation of timber frame on red brick plinth; octagonal slate roof with central pyramidal- capped louvre and gabled eaves dormers at cardinal points, all with pointed finials and carved pendants. Octagonal plan. Square-headed windows and doorway within panels of 'framing'. Interior: retains potence and ladder. A C11 or C12 castle motte (Scheduled Ancient Monument, County No. 253) is situated approximately 20m to north-west.
