Description
This is a dovecote located approximately 80 meters north of Sandford Hall, likely built in the late 19th century. It features cement rendering that imitates timber framing on a red brick base. The dovecote has an octagonal slate roof with a central pyramidal-capped louvre and gabled eaves dormers at each cardinal point, all topped with pointed finials and carved pendants. The building has an octagonal plan and includes square-headed windows and a doorway set within panels that resemble framing. Inside, it retains a potence and a ladder. Nearby, about 20 meters to the northwest, is a motte from the 11th or 12th century, which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
