Description
Hazelwood Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1655, which was remodeled in the mid-18th century and has had later additions and alterations. The front is roughcast concealing brick, while the rear features a timber frame. It has a plain tile roof with X-shaped patterns on the front. The building is T-shaped, with an earlier range at the rear, and consists of two storeys and a gable-lit attic. The front has a floor band and a dentilled eaves cornice, along with three mid-19th century wooden mullioned and transomed casement windows set in painted stone surrounds. There is a ridge stack to the right of center and a large integral end stack in two sections to the right. The rear range jetties on the first floor at the front, and there is evidence of a jetty on both the first floor and attic at the gable, which features projecting double-purlin ends and an internal end stack. A wooden board fixed to the front overhang displays two carved dragons, the date "1655," and the initials "TC" within a shield. The entrance is through a lean-to porch located in the angle between the ranges. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
