Description

Whitbatch House is a house dating from the 17th century, with early 19th century and late 19th century additions. It features a combination of timber-frame and brick construction, with coursed rubble and a plain tile roof that has old tiles on the central unit. The building has a T-shaped plan and is two storeys high, with a two-window range that includes 2-light casements in moulded cases. The ground floor has one 3-light and one 2-light casement, both with simple timber hoods. All windows are fitted with metal lattice glazing.

To the left, there is a later 19th century range with a 3-light window beneath a segmental arch and a small gable. To the right, a 2-light casement is positioned above a plank door, which is also under a segmental arch and protected by a rustic porch featuring chamfered timber-frame on a brick plinth. Additionally, there is a 4-light casement under a segmental arch to the left.

At the rear, there is a two-storey brick wing. The cross-wing to the north is also two storeys high and has a cellar. Its gable features a 3-light window above a 3-light cross-window, both under stone lintels. The plain barge-boards are topped with a spike-finial. The north front has a central 2-light window flanked by two 3-light windows, all under stone lintels. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed panelled door set in a moulded architrave, also under a stone lintel, and is sheltered by a rustic porch with chamfered timber-framing on a brick and stone plinth, complete with a spike-finial.
