Description

Number 10 The Hope is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is constructed of rubble with a thatched roof and features a rubble external stack with a detached shaft and a brick chimney on the right side. The building is a single unit and has a T-shaped plan.

The exterior is single-storey with an attic and includes two 19th-century gabled dormers, each with 2-light metal lattice-glazed casements beneath brick gables and plain tiled roofs. The entrance is located to the left center and consists of a battened plank door set in an oak frame, sheltered by a simple porch. To the left of the entrance is one 19th-century 2-light metal lattice-glazed casement, and to the right are two similar casements in chamfered frames. On the right side, there is a small lean-to, likely containing an oven, and to the left, an outshut with a battened plank door and ventilation slits, along with a later 20th-century weatherboarded range. At the rear, there is an 18th-century wing made of brick over rubble, featuring a plain tile roof, a brick end stack, a similar roof dormer, a 2-light metal lattice-glazed casement, and a plank door. The interior has not been inspected.
