Description

Number 27 is a house located on Cecily Hill in Cirencester, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with later alterations. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof, with 19th-century brick stacks at both ends. It is two storeys high with an attic and has a five-window range.

On the first floor, there are five two-light chamfered stone-mullion windows with leaded light casements. The ground floor has four 19th-century two-light chamfered stone-mullion windows with hoodmoulds. The house also features three gabled dormers, each with two-light leaded casements. The central entrance is a four-panel door beneath a 19th-century gabled porch. The rear elevation includes one small gable and two two-light chamfered stone-mullion windows with leaded lights and hoodmoulds. There is a single-storey wing at the rear, dating from the 18th or 19th century.

Inside, the property has an early to mid-18th-century dog-leg closed string staircase, a chamfered beam with run-out stops, and early to mid-18th-century cupboards flanking a 20th-century fireplace in the front left room on the ground floor. An attached shed is a lean-to with a stone slate roof, positioned behind a coursed limestone rubble wall to the right.
