Toll house, now house. Early C19. Stone rubble with hipped and gabled slate roofs. Octagonal plan with gabled wing to rear. Brick ridge stack in wing to rear. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Entrance front on west side in rear wing with single multi-pane casement window with stone sill over pentice roof covering single-storey lobby outshut adjacent to diagonally-boarded door set in C20 porch surround. Right-hand gable-end return: multi-pane casement window. Plain bargeboards at verge. Octagonal section: 2-light multi-pane casements on opposing faces with inset toll-charge tablet located on third side. 3 2-light multi-pane casements, one at ground floor under toll-charge tablet and others in opposing diagonal faces, all with projecting painted stone hood on bracket and stone sills. Vertically boarded shutters surviving on one window. INTERIOR: not inspected. A remarkably unaltered example of a C19 toll house.
