Description

This is an early 19th-century toll house in Ludlow. Constructed of rubble with a Welsh slate roof, it features a wood finial and a brick stack at the rear. The building has an octagonal plan with a wing extending to the rear. It is two storeys high and has a two-window facade. The windows are metal casements, flanking a recessed toll board. A 20th-century plywood door is centrally positioned beneath a simple metal hood supported by wrought-iron brackets. This is flanked by two windows with pointed heads, the left-hand window containing a metal casement. The windows are topped with two-piece stone span-arch lintels. A single-storey wing to the rear has similar casement windows. A simple metal casement is set within a brick segmental arch to the rear gable, with a rubble outshut also present.
