Description
The gates and piers located to the north of the Lodge to Moor Park were constructed around 1870. The gates are made of iron and feature a pair of driveway gates, which are set between brick and red sandstone ashlar gatepiers. The driveway gates consist of close-set vertical bars, a bottom rail, middle rails, and double top rails. The end standards are adorned with urn finials and scrollwork, while the vertical panels at the stiles and in the center of the driveway gates are enriched.
The piers are made of rubbed brick with ovolo corners and bands of inset courses. Each pier has a gabled and cross-gabled cap made of stone pediments, which rest on a dentil-moulded cornice and a plain frieze. The piers are topped with a ball finial set on a tapering pedestal.
