Description
Gates and gate-piers located to the south-east of Spennithorne House date from the 19th century. They are made of wrought iron and ashlar stone. The gates are a pair designed for a carriage drive, featuring a scalloped upper line and flattened lance heads on the bars. The intermediate bars with flattened lance heads end above the mid-rail, and there are diagonal bracings in the lower sections. The two piers are constructed from sandstone ashlar with vermiculated rustication. Each pier is topped by an entablature that has vermiculated ovals on the frieze and is surmounted by pedestals carrying ball finials with a vermiculated box.
