SO57SW Clock House to north-west of Moor 482-1/9/152 Park

GV II

Stable block, now house. c1870. Brick with hipped and gabled plain-tiled roofs. 2 brick-panelled ridge chimneys. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Corbelled brick eaves. 4-window range flanked by projecting wings with single window to each floor. 2-light multi-pane casements with shallow brick segmental-arched lintels with raised keystones. Central red-brick and stone pedimented tablet containing the arms of the Foster family, surmounted by ornamental brick gable with terracotta dressings containing large clock-face with hoodmould over. Ground floor to right: 6-panelled door with top light flanked by one mullion and transom multi-pane window either side, all with shallow brick arches. To left is an elliptical brick arch over former stable opening now with C20 inserted door. Ground-level lintels of shallow brick arches with projecting keystones and segmental hoodmoulds. Right return side and rear: various plain multi-pane casements with plain shallow brick arched lintels. Left return side has extended 2-storey range of simplified window openings set half a storey below main building down sloping ground. INTERIOR: not inspected. Included for group value with Moor Park (qv).
