Description
Clock House and Post Office is a house with adjoining stables that have been converted into a Post Office and shop. It dates from the later 19th century and is constructed of red brick with a clay tile roof. The building is L-shaped, consisting of one storey and attics, with the northeast wing originally serving as the stable block.
The southwest elevation features a variety of cast iron lattice casements and includes a part-glazed door to the right, which is sheltered by a sloping hood supported on curved braces. The road-facing gable end has two ground floor windows with glazing bars set under cambered heads, and an attic clock face with a moulded dripstone.
The northeast and northwest elevations have bay windows on the ground floor, all of which are 20th-century insertions, as well as gabled dormers with cast iron lattice casements. The southwest block is topped with a square louvred bell-cote that has a pyramidal roof and a weathervane.
