Description
26 and 27 High Street are a pair of cottages from the Shuttleworth Estate, marked with plaques indicating the year 1881 and featuring the Shuttleworth emblem. The cottages are built from yellow brick with red brick detailing, and the upper part is finished with colourwashed render and applied timber framing. They have a half hipped clay tile roof adorned with bands of fishscale tiles. The layout includes four rooms, with one storey and attics. On the ground floor, there are six windows in total, consisting of two 3-light and four 2-light windows. The attic features four gabled dormers, two with 3-light windows and two with 2-light windows. All windows are cast iron lattice casements. The cottages also have two multiple ridge stacks topped with a variety of Tudor style pots, and decorative ridge cresting with finials. There are 20th-century single storey additions at both ends.
