Description
Nos 30 and 31 High Street are a pair of estate cottages built in 1897, as indicated by a plaque featuring the Shuttleworth emblem. The cottages are finished with colourwashed roughcast render over brick, with some applied timber framing. They have a half-hipped clay tile roof adorned with bands of fishscale tiles. The design includes a four-room plan, with one storey and attics. On the ground floor, there are four three-light casement windows, while the attic features four gabled dormers with two-light casements. All windows are fitted with glazing bars. The entrance consists of two plank doors set in simple surrounds. A central ridge stack is topped with four Tudor-style chimney pots, and the roof is decorated with ridge cresting and finials. The cottages are included for their group value.
