Description
The Village Hall, formerly a Reading Room, dates from 1901, as indicated by the datestone and the Shuttleworth emblem. It is designed in a picturesque Tudor style. The building features a high red brick plinth, with the upper exterior finished in pebbledash render and applied timber framing. The roof is covered with 20th-century tiles.
The structure is a rectangular block with a half-hipped roof, a projecting central gable, and lower lean-to blocks at both ends. It consists of one storey and attics, with a symmetrical front elevation. The central gable window and the two flanking windows are all five-light mullion and transom windows, featuring Tudor arches under square heads. Each lean-to block has a Tudor arched doorway. The central gable is adorned with decorative panel framing and pierced wavy-edged bargeboards, which include a drop finial. At the center of the gable, there is a small octagonal lantern topped with a domed roof and finial.
