Description
Bryn Cottage and the adjoining garages to the south-west are a barn that has been converted into a house and garages. The building dates from the early 17th century and has undergone alterations in the late 19th century and mid to late 20th century. It features a weatherboarded timber frame, with some parts rebuilt in partially rendered coursed limestone rubble, and has a roof made of graded stone slate and slate. The structure likely consists of four framed bays and is one storey tall, with an attic.
The house is located on the right side and includes a rendered stack positioned behind the ridge to the right, a gabled semi-dormer with a three-light casement window to the left, a late 19th-century four-pane sash window to the right, and a 20th-century half-glazed door with a window to the left. The garages are on the left and have two pairs of large boarded doors, two fixed small-paned windows to the right, and a smaller boarded door to the left. The left gable end features a two-light attic casement and a four-light casement window on the ground floor.
Inside, there are peculiar enlarged bases to the frame posts that resemble jowls, a double purlin roof, and collar-and-tie-beam trusses with queen struts.
