Description
Hungerford Mill is a late 18th-century building that originally served as a millhouse and later became a farmhouse, and is now converted into flats. It features ashlar and coursed squared stone, as well as coursed rubble, with raised quoins and a plain band at the eaves. The roof is hipped and tiled, with two brick lateral ridge stacks.
The front of the building is three storeys high and has three windows. The outer bays have 12/12 sash windows on the lower floors and 4/8 sash windows on the upper storey, all with flat stone lintels. The central bay is advanced and features a Venetian sash window on the first floor, with a 20th-century 6/6 sash window and side lights above. The ground storey includes a projecting canted ashlar porch with simple pilasters and an entablature, which has a panelled door with a doorcase and a fanlight with radial bars. The porch is flanked by two round-headed sashes with raised shelved keyblocks.
On the right side, there is a three-storey, two-window range with multi-pane 2-light casements set in brick segmental-arched openings below the upper storey. The ground storey is covered by a tiled lean-to roof. The left side features a 12/12 sash window with a brick segmental-arched lintel on the ground floor to the right, and a 2-light casement window on both the upper and ground storeys. The interior has not been inspected.
