Description
This building is a barn and cowhouse that was originally a malt house, dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a plain-tiled roof with a hipped gable at the west end. The barn has a rectangular shape and is single storey with a loft.
On the north side, which faces the street, there are stone steps to the left leading up to the loft. To the right, there is a single unglazed 8-light wood mullion and transom window, along with a boarded door. The front also has three gabled dormer openings that are unglazed. The east gable has openings at both the upper and lower levels, while the west gable is obscured by a lower farm building range. Inside, there is a reused cruck-framed truss at the west end and two upper base-crucks that were part of the former kiln. The roof structure consists of a single purlin. The interior has not been inspected.
