Description

The Maltings Barn is an 18th-century barn, originally used as a malting. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with quoins, and has a corrugated tile hipped roof. The original floor has been removed from within. The barn is two storeys high. There are four boarded windows on each floor, and a loft door is positioned centrally to both the left and right sides of the first floor. All windows are of a similar size, and have stone cambered lintels. A flight of nine steps, resembling a high mounting block, rises to the centre right doorway, and is constructed of red brick with stone tops. To the left end, there is a small, blank tablet with a hood mould. On the right end, there is a low doorway with a shouldered moulded stone frame, which is likely from an earlier structure and was reset. To the right of this is a large, full-height 20th-century double doorway with plank doors.
