Description
Stone Cottage is a cottage dated 1701, with 20th-century gables and roof alterations. The walls are constructed of coursed rubble stone with quoins, and incorporate buff and red brick, with a plain tile roof and brick end stacks. The front elevation is stone, the left end is mainly buff brick, the rear is mostly brick, and the right gable is red brick. The upper floor has three two-light casement windows, with a hipped dormer window set below the eaves on either side, and a tiny central casement. The ground floor features a stone-framed three-light window with a wooden lintel centrally, a door with a moulded hood mould, and two two-light casements. A garage extension is located on the right end. A stone tablet on the front of the building is inscribed "W.E.M. 1701." The cottage is included on the list for its group value.
