Description
Thornton Cottage is a cottage dating from the mid-17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of rubble with painted stone dressings and features a tile roof installed around 1984, along with a brick central ridge stack. The building is two storeys high and has two bays. The entrance on the left side has a plain surround and a door from around 1950. To the right, there is an 18th-century two-light window on both the ground and upper floors, with recessed flat-faced mullions; the ground floor has a 20th-century casement window, while the upper floor features eight-pane sash windows. The right bay has two-light windows in each storey, added in 1985. The right-hand quoins are also notable. The cottage is included for its group value.
