Description
Tranquil Vale is a cottage dating from the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of rubble with stone dressings and features a tile roof that was added around 1984. The building has two storeys and three bays. The central entrance is framed by a plain surround and has a moulded lintel, with an early 20th-century door. On the ground floor, there are two tripartite windows on either side of the entrance, which have recessed flat-faced mullions and 20th-century casements. The upper floor contains two similar windows and a central single-light window, all featuring 20th-century casements. The left side of the building has quoins and a gable-end ridge stack, while the right side has quoins at what was formerly the gable, now serving as a party wall with Thornton Cottage.
