Cottage. Mid-C17 with later alterations. Timber framed with red brick infill, graded slate roof. 2-cell plan with integral end stack. One storey and attic. Framing: square panels, 3 from cill to wall-plate with well-preserved set of carpenter's marks; regularly coursed shale with red brick dressings to left gable end. Mid- to late C19 fenestration, 2 casements in panels of framing to ground floor with gabled eaves dormers directly above; plank door to left. Integral end stack also to left has C19 red brick shaft and remains of brick bread oven. Interior: framing visible throughout including to cross-wall; left ground-floor room has 2 chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and plain joists; partly infilled inglenook fireplace with chamfered wooden lintel and C19 cast-iron cooking range; right ground-floor room also with chamfered spine beam and plain joists is now divided by lath and plaster partition wall; oak winder staircase to back wall approached through plank and muntin door with H-hinges. Collar and tie beam roof in 2 bays with double purlins, lower chamfered with run-out stops.
