Manor Farmhouse

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with later additions and alterations. It features a timber frame with plaster and painted brick infill and has a slate roof. The building is arranged in an L-plan, with a hall range that appears to have three framed bays on the right and a cross-wing projecting to the left. It has two storeys. The framing is mostly visible at the front, with four square panels from the cill to the wall-plate on the hall range and three rectangular panels on the cross-wing. The rear gable of the cross-wing has four square panels from the cill to the tie beam, supported by three vertical struts to the collar, which has V-struts. The rear wall of the hall range has two square panels above the girding beam but is rebuilt in brick beneath.

The windows were altered in the late 20th century, featuring one casement on each floor of the front gable of the cross-wing and two on each floor of the hall range. The south-west front of the cross-wing was rebuilt in mid-19th century red brick, with a central entrance that has a plain pilastered doorcase, a bracketed hood, and a late 20th century half-glazed door. There are late 20th century casements to the left and right, with 19th century segmental heads. A red brick ridge stack is located immediately to the right of the entrance, and there is a prominent external lateral red brick stack at the rear of the hall range, which has a 19th century painted rubblestone lean-to abutting it. The interior was not accessible during the last survey in November 1985, but it is likely to be of interest.
