Description

Lee Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 17th century, with later additions and alterations primarily from the mid- to late 19th century. The building features roughcast that conceals a timber frame, with red brick additions and roofs made of plain tiles and slate. It has an original L-plan layout, with a baffle-entry leading to the hall range and a cross-wing that projects to the left. There is a parallel mid-19th century addition at the rear of the main range, and the cross-wing was extended to the rear in the late 19th century.

The farmhouse stands two storeys plus an attic in the cross-wing, with a window arrangement of 1:3. The early 20th century casements include a canted bay window in the ground floor of the cross-wing and segmental-headed windows in the ground floor of the hall range. A tall gabled porch is situated between two ground-floor windows of the hall range and features a six-panel outer door, with the top panels now glazed. The attic of the cross-wing has a jetty supported by carved corner brackets and projecting single-purlin ends. A prominent 19th century brown brick ridge stack is located directly above the porch and has two sets of paired and rebated shafts. There is also a large external lateral stack on the left wall of the cross-wing, which has been rebuilt with paired and rebated shafts. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
