Description
Timberth Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, which was remodeled in the late 18th century and has had later additions and alterations. The building is timber framed but is now largely covered or rebuilt in 18th-century red brick, with a graded slate roof. It has a T-plan layout, featuring a long hall range on the left and a cross-wing on the right. The farmhouse is two storeys high with gable-lit attics and has a dentilled eaves cornice on the hall range.
The framing is visible on the back wall of the hall range, showing fragmentary square panels above a high brick plinth, with a thick wall post exposed at the center of the cross-wing. The windows are arranged in a 3:1 pattern, all being early 20th-century casements with engineering brick sills. The ground floor of the hall range and each floor of the cross-wing have segmental heads. The entrance features a four-panel door, with the top panels glazed, located under a 20th-century lean-to porch at the angle between the hall range and the cross-wing.
A prominent red brick ridge stack is present on the cross-wing, with its top rebuilt in 20th-century brick, and there is a small stack in the roof slope to the left of center on the hall range. There is also an early to mid-19th-century wide gabled addition at right angles to the rear of the hall range on the left. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
