Description
Oaklee is a house that has been converted into two cottages. It dates back to the 17th century, with the eaves raised and the structure remodeled in the early 18th century, along with later additions and alterations. The building is timber framed with plaster and painted brick infill, topped by a slate roof. It stands two storeys high and appears to have four framed bays. The framing consists of square panels, with three extending from the cill to the original wall-plate and one above. The right gable end reveals the end truss of the original roof, featuring a collar, tie beam, and V-struts from the collar.
The windows were updated in the late 19th century and consist of multi-paned casements, with three located directly below the eaves and five on the ground floor, including three grouped together to the right of center, all set within the framing panels. There is a boarded door to the left and a four-panel door to the right, with the top panels now glazed, both sheltered by a 20th-century gabled timber porch. To the left, an external rubblestone end stack has a later red brick shaft. A twin-gabled addition at the rear is also timber framed with brick infill, featuring exposed king-post trusses at the gable ends and red brick ridge stacks.
