Description
Firs Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-17th century, with an addition from the mid to late 18th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick nogging on a brick plinth, and some parts have been rebuilt in brick with painted imitation framing. The red brick addition has a plain tile roof. The framing consists of small square panels with short corner braces and long straight tension braces, arranged in a T-plan.
The south front has a central timber-framed gabled eaves dormer with a 20th-century two-light wooden casement. The hall range has a large brick ridge stack off-centre to the right and another stack in front of the ridge off-centre to the left. The cross wing features plat bands, a toothed-brick eaves cornice, parapeted gable ends with moulded stone kneelers, and an integral brick end stack at the front.
The hall range has a three-window front with 20th-century three-light wooden casements. The door between the first and second windows from the left has four raised and fielded panels. There is a 17th-century two-storey timber-framed and brick gabled porch with a first-floor three-light wooden casement, a segmental-arched entrance, and segmental-arched side openings with splat balusters. A boarded door is located between the first and second windows from the left. The return of the cross wing has 20th-century two-light wooden casements, while the rear of the cross wing features 20th-century two-light wooden casements and a blind attic window. The interior has not been inspected.
