Description

The Beeches is a farmhouse, likely dating from the late 17th century, with later additions and alterations. The exterior is primarily constructed of regularly coursed limestone and shale slabs, with red brick dressings and a slate roof. The building follows a three-unit baffle-entry plan. It has one storey and an attic, featuring three 20th-century segmental-headed fixed-light windows with lowered sills on the ground floor, with gabled eaves dormers directly above. A 20th-century half-glazed door is positioned below a prominent ridge stack to the left of the centre, and a large, semi-integral end stack is on the right. The left gable end displays double-purlin ends. The interior, inspected in October 1985, features a massive chimney breast beneath the ridge stack, and a filled-in inglenook fireplace with a segmental chamfered wooden lintel in the left ground-floor room. Chamfered ceiling beams are also present.
